Rigid, waterproof, floating
Click LVT and SPC Flooring
Rigid-core vinyl planks that click together and float over an underlay. Waterproof like glue-down LVT, quicker to fit, and kinder to an uneven subfloor.

SPC stands for stone polymer composite: a rigid core of limestone and vinyl that gives these planks their stiffness. The vinyl surface on top is the same realistic oak, herringbone or stone effect as glue-down LVT, but the boards click together at the edges and float over an underlay rather than being stuck down. The result is a waterproof floor that goes down in a day and hides the small imperfections a glued floor would show.
It suits kitchens, bathrooms, conservatories and whole-house projects where one waterproof floor needs to run through several rooms with different subfloors. Most ranges are approved for underfloor heating and come with a built-in underlay. Where the subfloor is very uneven, or the room is a long open-plan space, we will still recommend preparation first, but SPC is the more forgiving of the two vinyl systems.

Questions we are asked
- Is SPC better than glue-down LVT?
- Different rather than better. SPC is quicker, tolerates a less-than-perfect subfloor and can be lifted again. Glue-down feels more solid and seamless and is the choice for large open spaces and herringbone patterns. We will show you both and explain which suits your floor.
- Can SPC go in a conservatory?
- Yes. The rigid core is far more stable in the temperature swings of a conservatory than laminate or click vinyl with a soft core. Check the manufacturer's temperature range, which we do for you.
